Accessibility Commitment
WCAG 2.2 Accessibility Statement
As the National Blind Sports Association (NBSA), ensuring barrier-free digital access for people with blindness and visual impairments is fundamental to our core values.
1. Conformance Status
The National Blind Sports Association website is engineered to conform with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA and exceeds requirements with Level AAA features for screen reader users and low-vision visitors.
2. Built-in Accessibility Features
- Audio Reader (Text-to-Speech): The header contains a native audio reader enabling users to listen to full page content or stop/pause at any time.
- High Contrast Mode (Yellow on Black): Instant toggle in the header designed for optimal visual acuity and low-vision comfort.
- Persistent Font Scaler: Four distinct text scaling levels (A-, A, A+, A++) that adapt proportionally without horizontal scrollbars.
- Skip to Content Navigation: Keyboard users can bypass headers and jump straight to the primary content via visible skip links.
- WCAG 2.2 Visible Focus Indicators: A 3-pixel solid high-contrast gold outline ensures keyboard focus is never obscured or invisible.
- Semantic HTML5 & ARIA Landmarks: Clean markup with header, nav, main, aside, and footer roles recognized by JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, and TalkBack.
