Lalitpur, Nepal — In continuation of its community advocacy and grassroots outreach mandate, the National Blind Sports Association (NBSA) successfully handed over a comprehensive consignment of accessible sports equipment to educational institutions and sports centers across the Kathmandu Valley.
The distributed packages included international-grade Goalball bell balls, tactile wooden chessboards engineered with raised dark squares and distinct peg pieces, audible tennis balls, and acoustic orientation cones designed for blind physical education classes.
Building Lifelong Physical Literacy
Many blind children in Nepal historically faced exclusion from physical education and sports periods due to lack of adapted equipment. By equipping municipal resource schools with proper para-sports gear, NBSA is establishing a sustainable pipeline of athletic development from childhood through elite competition.
“Physical activity is not a luxury; it is a fundamental human right that builds confidence, social mobility, and independent mobility. We are grateful to our community donors and municipal partners who make this possible,” noted NBSA President Jiwan Ghimire during the handover ceremony.
The initiative will expand to Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces over the coming fiscal quarter with support from international inclusion advocates and generous private donors.
