Kathmandu, Nepal — In a major boost to inclusive sports development, the National Blind Sports Association (NBSA) in partnership with the Blind Cricket Association Nepal unveiled an ambitious 2026 Strategic Development Roadmap focused on expanding women’s participation and talent discovery across remote districts.
Blind cricket in Nepal has earned global admiration for its remarkable resilience and competitive spirit. The sport utilizes a specialized oversized plastic ball containing ball bearings that emit a distinct rattling chime, allowing B1 (totally blind), B2 (partially blind), and B3 (low vision) players to judge trajectory and pace with pinpoint accuracy.
Grassroots Provincial Expansion
Under the newly signed operational agreement, NBSA will deliver certified acoustic cricket equipment kits to sports clubs and schools across all seven provinces of Nepal, while organizing district-level weekend clinics supervised by national team alumni.
“Blind cricket transformed our lives and gave Nepalese women a world stage to showcase our courage. This strategic initiative ensures that no visually impaired boy or girl in any corner of Nepal is deprived of the chance to hold a bat and dream big,” remarked an active national squad member.
International Bilateral Fixtures
The roadmap also outlines plans for upcoming bilateral T20 and One-Day international series in early 2027, providing competitive international exposure for emerging cricketers who excel in upcoming national selection tournaments.
